One of my favorite things to do is find stunning wood. It's most rewarding when I can find a beautiful piece that other people looked over and see the instrument that this could become. That's exactly what happened with this buckeye burl. I think a lot of people looked past it because it had a big void in the center of it. However, I saw that the void could be placed exactly where the neck pocket would be. Sure enough — this piece is every bit as vibrant as I had hoped.
